Gucci Gowns, Suits, and Black Glamour Filled BET’s Red Carpet.
Stargazing was at an all-time high at LA’s Microsoft Theater. Taraji P. Henson, Lizzo and Keke Palmer, arrived in full glam along with other starlets for BET’s 2022 ceremony.
Lizzo kicked the show off with “About Damn Time” and celebrated with five nominations. Celebrity stylist Jason Rembert styled Lizzo in Gucci for her red carpet look. Her couture gown transitioned into a two-piece gold disco set for her lively performance.
Taraji served effortless looks as this year’s host. The Golden Globes actress did a phenomenal job and used her platform to address the Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v. Wade. “It’s about damn time we talk about the fact that guns have more rights than a woman,” the actress said. Her words set off a call to action as Janelle Monáe followed suit.
Janelle Monae’s custom Roberto Cavalli gown served as a stance for women’s rights. The songstress joined her peers in condemning the Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v. Wade with an unapologetic middle finger and statement. “I know we are celebrating us right now, as we should — we absolutely deserve to celebrate especially now. We must celebrate our art by protecting our right and our truths.” Applause filled the room as she ended by announcing Jazmine Sullivan as a winner.
Jazmine won Best Female R&B/Pop Artist for her “Heaux Tales” album. The Grammy Award Winning Songstress wore a feathered look by Jovani Fashions and echoed Monae’s sentiments during her acceptance speech.
Culture’s Biggest Night certainly captured the moment, and Black Women led the way!
